David Braun, MBA
Principal

David's 38 years of transit industry experience began with a brief internship at the North Suburban Mass Transit District in Des Plaines, IL.  Soon after, he took a position in the Management Development Program of ATE Management and Service Company, the predecessor to First Transit, a multi-national provider of public transit services based in Cincinnati, OH.  While working for First Transit, David served as an Operations and Planning consultant, and was the contracted General Manager in Hamilton, Ohio; Sioux Falls, SD; Peoria, IL and the Transit Authority of Northern, KY (TANK).

While in Peoria, he earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Bradley University and used it to secure a Director of Business Development position in First Transit’s corporate office.  After 23 years, he left First Transit to work for a technology-based paratransit service coordinator, and then for another global transportation service provider, Transdev Services, as its Vice President of Business Development.  With First Transit and then Transdev, David travelled the globe from South America to India and throughout Europe and saw firsthand the similarities in the challenges of providing bus, rail, and streetcar services, as well as what those transportation systems did to overcome the challenges and become successful.

Most recently, David was the Managing Director of the Bloomington-Normal Public Transit System, known as Connect Transit.  During his time as Managing Director, David led the transit system to becoming a valued partner in the community.  He oversaw the implementation of new microtransit services and route realignments, faciltated the addition of rural transit services, participated in the design of a new transit center, introduced new budget and communication tools, and celebrated significant grant awards.

David developed his passion for public transportation while attending Indiana University and earning a bachelor's degree from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs with a concentration in Transportation. To him, transit was a practical solution to traffic and pollution while providing needed access to work, education, healthcare, shopping and recreational opportunities - a belief he holds to this day.
